Worn-down and exhausted
Felt like his life was passing him by
Hated his job, missed his family
Spent most nights with no one by his side
He’d reached a breaking point
Knew something had to give
Packed everything that mattered
Started driving, life to live
10 hours later, opened the door
Stepped onto the pavement
He’d never seen this before
There were no skyscrapers, no neon signs
Just friendly smiles and kind eyes
He took a deep breath
Took it all in and said
I think I love this town
Found a new home, got a new job
Working harder than ever before
Went home tired but strangely peaceful
Watched the sun set from his own front porch
And when the boss’s daughter
Started comin’ around, he said to himself
I think I love this town
Six years later, that girl’s all his
Same house, same porch, three blonde kids
Spends his days at work, his nights with them
Never wanted more than what he had right then
Lying with her, kids asleep down the hall
He takes a deep breath
Takes it all in and says
I love this town
